New Jersey Department of Children and Families
The New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) is New Jersey’s child welfare agency. The Department was created in July 2006 by Governor Jon S. Corzine and the Legislature as New Jersey’s first Cabinet-level agency devoted exclusively to serving and safeguarding the most vulnerable children and families in the state. The Department, staffed by approximately 7,000 employees, includes the Division of Youth and Family Services, the Division of Child Behavioral Health Services and the Division of Prevention and Community Partnerships. DCF is focused on strengthening families and achieving safety, wellbeing and permanency for all of New Jersey’s children.
